Handmade Meditation Beads; Malas
Mala, the Sanskirt word for “garland” is a type of meditation bead used for mantra meditations. You recite your mantra using the mala to count your repetitions. Traditionally malas have 108 beads for counting and one guru bead to represent both the teacher-student relationship and lineage, as well as a connection to the divine.
Each mala is handmade with intention by me, using sustainably sourced beads. I have a distributor in North India that I source my Tulsi, Sandalwood and Rudraksha from to guarantee authenticity and foster a relationship with the culture that this beautiful practice comes from. Each guru bead is made from a crystal, stone or shell, and is chosen based on what speaks to me as I make each one. These malas aren’t made to sell and produce, but are a part of my “bhakti” or devotional practice of yoga.
Want one of your own?
I generally only sell my malas at events, or give them as gifts to longtime students. In the spirit of making the practice accessible, and sharing my devotion with more people, I do make them on request for people who are interested. If you would like one of your own, please fill out the form below and I can make one for you either to your specifications, or you can answer a few questions for me and I’ll let my heart guide the creation for a mala designed for you based on your energy, goals and spiritual needs.
