Lunar Lotus Wellness

Learn the Art of Self Cultivation

Raja comes from the Sanskrit word for “royal.” It’s associated with Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, where he defines yoga as “cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.” The goal of raja yoga is, through absolute stillness and calm, to reach the royal, supreme self. Finding balance and being confident in yourself and your values gives you the foundation to make informed, powerful choices- it gives you a stillness where you can ask questions and look inward.

These classes aren’t to sweat or perform. I hold space for the entire human experience. My classes are a place where you can come in tense or scattered, and find a place for yourself to exhale, be vulnerable and rest. A space to integrate your whole self.

This is for you if

  • You feel disconnected or overwhelmed.

  • You’re tired of spaces that only honor the physical body.

  • You’re searching for a space where you’re allowed to soften, breathe and be.

  • You crave stillness, gentleness and meaning.

What you can expect from a class

  • A practice that weaves movement with introspection.

  • Classes grounded in tradition, but adapted to modern life.

  • Community and a space for open discussion.

  • Post-class tea time, where you can share, reflect and be heard.

In my classes you set time aside to take care of yourself; to be introspective, to relax fully and deeply, to release the stress and pressure of your life and to care for the wounded parts of your self.

What is Lunar Lotus?

My name is Ash, and I am the owner and teacher at Lunar Lotus Wellness, serving in Southwest Portland, Oregon. The name Lunar Lotus is meant to combine the symbolism of the moon- intuition, softness, “the unseen”- and the lotus flower- perseverance, liberation, bliss. By working with the unseen parts of yourself, following your intuition and sitting in stillness you can toil through the mud of your life, like the lotus flower, and bloom into a place of understanding.

I am a 500 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher, a black belt in Hapkido martial arts, and an active practitioner of Tai Chi. I also serve a delightful cup of tea in the traditional Chinese gaiwan style, which is available after every class.

Yoga and martial arts have these stories of great sages and masters who are able to perform incredible feats; controlling matter through pure discipline and intention, extending their lives indefinitely through meditation and realization. Achieving perfection of the human condition.

Whether you believe in the stories or not, I believe if you follow the paths laid out by these masters you only stand to gain a greater understanding of your self in the process. I follow this path, and I dedicate my life to the study and devotion of the lessons of great yogis and teachers. I humbly offer to share what I have learned, and to model the excellence that I hope to achieve through practice and discipline.

My life is a devotion to the study and practice yoga. Through this devotion I aim to allow the light of the divine to shine through me, pure and unobstructed. Part of this devotion is to share this sacred practice.
