About us

Instructor Ash is the founder of Lunar Lotus and has been a yoga practitioner since 2015 and teacher since 2020. They have taken courses for many schools of yoga, with an emphasis on vinyasa, and became a certified yoga teacher through an Iyengar inspired school. Their approach to yoga considers the physical, or asana, practice to be a moving meditation, ceasing your thoughts through physical sensations.

 

Ash began their Tai Chi journey in 2017 through a year long “Tai Chi as a Way of Life” course, learning the Tung lineage Yang style long form, and today practices Sam Tran’s lineage regularly. Informed by these two lineages, they teach the 47 forms of Yang style with an emphasis on energy flow, proper joint alignment and weight shifting to train your body to move with ease.

 

To further train discipline, mindfulness and strength, Ash started training in Hapkido martial arts in 2020 and practices every day. Today they pass down this knowledge in their self defense classes.

 

In their free time, you can find Ash drinking Golden Needle tea at home, studying yoga sutras and tai chi forms, or hiking in The Gorge to collect rare herbs for teas and medicines.
